Join us for the fourth online PhD seminar in our Road Safety Research series!
We’re excited to continue our TWIN-SAFE PhD seminar series, sharing research focused on traffic safety and transport systems. This fourth seminar features Waqas Ahmed from Hasselt University, presenting on:
“Enhancing Road Safety through UAV captured Aerial Footage and Deep Learning: Object Detection, Risk Prediction, and Real-time Analysis.โ
Waqas Ahmed is a researcher at the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB), specializing in the exciting fields of state-of-the-art computer vision and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to enhance road safety. He has a background in remote sensing and geographic information systems, which provides a valuable geographical perspective to his research.
This seminar will focus on visual computing methods for implementing surrogate safety measures. It will begin with an overview of the challenges faced by UAVs and data collection, especially in relation to personal data protection regulations. The discussion will further explore the technical intricacies of visual computing for accurate vehicle trajectory estimation and localization.
