Fourth Road Safety Summer School Successfully Completed

From September 2nd to 11th, the international Road Safety Summer School was held at the Scientific and Educational Campus Borongaj in Zagreb, Croatia. This prestigious program, successfully organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences of the University of Zagreb, has become a popular international platform for education and the exchange of experiences in the field of road safety.

The summer school program is designed to offer participants comprehensive and expert lectures on advanced concepts and elements of road traffic safety. The goal is to expand the knowledge and competencies of graduate and postgraduate students, as well as professionals in road engineering and safety. The lectures are thematically organized around key traffic safety factors: human, vehicles, roads, and their surrounding environment.

In addition to experts from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, leading global experts in road safety field gave lectures. Among them were renowned figures like Brendan Halleman from the European Investment Bank, Antonio Avenoso from the European Transport Safety Council, Harald Mosbock from Swarco, Oscar Oviedo-Trespalacios from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands), and Ali Pirdavani and Kris Brijs from Hasselt University (Belgium), as well as Carmelo D’Agostino from Lund University (Sweden).

This year’s summer school gathered 25 participants from 18 countries around the world. Along with several participants from Croatia, there were attendees from Ethiopia, Cameroon, Jordan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, India, the Netherlands, Serbia, Greece, Russia, Albania, Lebanon, and other countries.
